ABOUT US
From welfare to work, from renting to home ownership, and from credit to cash Dolores Sherman knows first hand how life changing it can be to have the right support system in place in order to progress economically. Personal, professional, and academic training and experience make her uniquely suited to work with individuals and families to turn their financial dreams into reality while providing a more personalized service which larger, well recognized, agencies may not be able to offer.
With almost a decade of experience, Dolores founded HOPE (Helping Others Progress Economically, LLC) where she specializes in providing financial counseling and education services for individuals and families with the support need to systematically move from financial uncertainty to financial security as it relates to their household and financial management. By applying expertise in social work, consumer credit counseling, collections, bankruptcy, banking, investing and other related financial fields, HOPE is able to provide information, education and motivation to financially stressed individuals, with debt or no/low assets, and to support them in creating long-term behavioral change.
A certified financial counselor and educator, Ms. Sherman has been providing housing, budget, and credit counseling for nearly a decade. As a facilitator Dolores has presented workshops for corporate, non-profit, community and faith-based groups. Even in the most challenging of settings such as the unemployment office or in the criminal justice system, Dolores' ability to relate to her audience fosters an atmosphere of learning where participants have expressed a sense of empowerment to change their financial situation.
An emerging leader in her industry, Dolores has been quoted in the newspaper and in other financial publications including the Atlanta Journal Constitution, NewsOK, and Bankrate.com. Dolores has also appeared on Real Estate 101 a radio talk show hosted by Mary Gill.
A summa cum laude graduate of the University of Rhode Island, Ms. Sherman holds a B.S. in Human Development & Family Studies with a concentration in family financial counseling and planning, and a minor in women's studies. She currently lives, works, and worships in Stone Mountain, Georgia.
